School Garden Plan 9/20 - Blog #1

I'm currently one of the organizers for the recently-formed garden committee. We plan to create two gardens for the school: one with herbs and vegetables to harvest later, and a separate garden for pollinators made up of native plants. I've mostly been working on the second one because we already have the space. I've focused on researching what plants work well with each other, what bugs and animals they will benefit from, and their maintenance level.

Internship 9/26 - Blog #2

Last week I started my internship volunteering at Bellaire Nature Center on Thursday, September 22. I met with Liz Fries, who gave me introductory training about my responsibilities at the center. I learned how to efficiently manage my time and energy to get all of my tasks done within my shift. I also learned the animals' names and about their dietary and care needs, as well as their personalities. I felt my first time at the nature center was very productive. This Thursday I will have to complete most tasks unassisted, and I must responsibly divide my time to do so efficiently. I'm excited to go back and see the animals again! Type: Service
